Weight Control and Nutrition Adviser - Eve Porcher

Why should you need a Nutrition Adviser?
To lead a busy life while ensuring good nutrition often feels like an impossible task. Especially in this country, obesity and related diseases are increasingly becoming a major health hazard. Forecasts suggest that unless urgent and effective actions are taken, by 2010 almost 30 per cent of UK adults and children will be obese.

It is not just because of our lifestyle changes, but also because of the food industry that develops food products which are not healthy and well balanced. The food you eat every day helps your body to build new cells and renew organs: it takes 18 months to build a new kidney, 4 months to renew your skin. Bad eating habits lead to a poor diet and result in health disorders.

The most visible disorders are:

  • weight gain
  • tiredness
  • skin problems
  • digestive problems
  • allergies...

As a Nutritional Adviser it’s my role to help people modify their eating habits, because prevention, through well balanced eating, is the most effective way to be healthy.

What is specific about the method?
There are a number of diets or methods to lose weight, cure chronic symptoms, but the only one that works in the long run is a well balanced diet.

Changing your diet must be natural, enjoyable and profitable to your health. It can and should be lived as a succession of benefits and not of frustrations.

The key points of the method :

    • A method which enables you to reach your optimum weight, to improve your health, vitality, and well being.
    • A method to help you resist impulsive eating behaviour.
    • A scientific and innovative method in order to return to and maintain your optimum weight without having to count your calories: Wild animals don’t count their calories, don’t weigh their food, but they always stay at their optimum weight.
    • A method that gives you the necessary knowledge to control your diet and stay in control.

Listen to your body: in order to find your individual and natural balanced weight, and keep it for life.

Get technical and psychological support: It is necessary to be helped during the set-up of your new eating habits, and also during the follow-up for 6 to 12 months. This will ensure the benefits are durable and effective, and also that you have integrated all the knowledge so as to be self-sufficient in defining your own eating plan and adapting it over the years.

Get a tailored eating program: a well balanced diet must take into account your personal tastes, age, and lifestyle.

Eat a well balanced diet: most of our discomforts disappear with a well balanced diet. Food is a gift, not an enemy.

A training programme... it is important to understand what we eat in order to avoid making mistakes. It is often simple food and ingredients that are the most beneficial for your body and your health. With this training you will know how to select your own food, and how to cook it in order to get the best out of it: the flavour, the pleasure and the nutritional value.

... adapted to everybody: men, women, teenagers, children, families who have already tried all types of diets.

    Clinical Nutrition - Cilla Moncrief

Long-term, low-level health problems may not be life-threatening but they can be debilitating and distressing.

Many people nowadays, find that orthodox medicine is unable to help relieve their pain and discomfort and are turning to nutritional therapy as a way of taking control of their health.

Clinical nutrition is not just about eating a healthy diet or taking vitamin pills. A good nutritional therapist is highly skilled with a number of special techniques at his/her disposal.

A programme of nutritional therapy enables the body itself to eliminate toxins, restore balance and promote health and healing.

Each client receives an individually tailored programme, one part of which may be a therapeutic diet or even, simply advice about making minor changes to their current diet. It is important that digestion and absorption are both working efficiently and so advice on how to achieve this may be given before recommending herbs or vitamins and minerals.

The result can often be more energy, clearer thinking and improved relaxation.

Many people are interested nowadays in staying healthy and preventing illness. An occasional nutritional consultation is of value to those people who want to review their diet so that they can continue to nourish their body in a holistic way.

    Allergy testing

Many people are becoming increasingly sensitive to foods and chemicals which are in regular use. This can put stress on the body and may reduce resistance to infection or even cause unpleasant symptoms such as headaches, mood swings or bloating.

I use a Vega machine to test for food and environmental sensitivity. Although the test uses the energy flows of the acupuncture meridians, no needles are used, therefore the experience is pleasant and painless and suitable for people of any age.

Over 120 substances can be tested and the results are immediate.

    Desensitising

This can be done using homoeopathically prepared remedies. Drops of the remedy are placed under the tongue, once, twice or three times daily for one week, and are amazingly successful. Remedies for any substance can be made up specifically for each individual.

Hay fever desensitizing is different to usual desensitizing and takes place over two years. After taking the remedies daily, for two weeks, the main part of the programme consists of taking the remedies once weekly during the growing season. Included in the Hay fever desensitizing kit is an emergency remedy for use when the pollen count is high. Symptoms may be less during the first year and should be gone after the second year. It is best if the desensitizing is started in January but it is possible to start at any time.

    Hair mineral analysis

Your hair can reveal a lot about the state of your health. It is much more than a test for minerals. It can help you identify: Hair analysis is an invaluable screening tool which measures the levels of twenty-one minerals and toxic metals present in a sample of hair. Minerals are the ‘spark plugs’ of life and play many important health related roles within the human body.

The test is not intended to be diagnostic and simply reflects long term metabolic activity over a three month period of time creating a blueprint of each individual’s biochemistry in order to identify stress, blood sugar and carbohydrate imbalances, metabolic rate and glandular imbalances.
